The Public Prosecution of the State has expanded the scope of its investigation into the publication and circulation of a press item containing inaccurate information about explosions allegedly heard in the center of Dubai.

The Attorney General explained that the Public Prosecution has heard the statement of the reporter, and has also summoned those responsible for preparing, approving, and publishing the news item at the agency, in order to verify their roles and the mechanism for preparing, approving, and publishing the news, as well as the extent of compliance with the legal and professional standards followed for verifying the accuracy of news before publication, in preparation for determining responsibilities and taking the legal measures warranted by the findings of the investigation.
He affirmed that the agency's withdrawal of the news item and publication of an apology regarding it does not preclude the completion of the investigations to determine legal responsibilities and take the measures required by law in light of the findings of the investigation.
